	There is a certain magic to the story of how our company started. Karin travelled to Egypt 15 years ago to look for interesting items for her new home accessories company, Zenza. She came back not only with a handbag full of samples, but also madly in love with Hussein! Soon business steadily grew - as well as their family. And they still live and work together passionately. Zenza became especially famous with its beautiful lamp collection and garnered the attention of designers and stylists worldwide. Nowadays there is great appreciation for the handcraftsmanship that is so characteristic of our collection. Handmade products have a "soul" which gives them an extra value and beauty. We often combine ancient techniques with a modern twist in our design and develop a very elegant, intimate but nevertheless modern atmosphere with our collection.
	This year is a special year to us, because some dreams are coming true after many years of wishing, thinking, planning and working. That is the start of the shift Zenza is making to a become a fairtrade company. We try, in our own humble way, to improve the quality of life for the people we work with. Therefore we are so proud to have been able to create a very nice line of velvet-silk pillows and poufs in Vietnam, through a fairtrade organisation. This work provides a proper income for disadvantaged women in the farm villages. Another fruitful result of cooperation with a fairtrade company are the wonderful handmade scissors from Yemen. And our core business, our oriental lamps and other soulful products for your home, are from this year on going to be made in a fairtrade way. We are in the process of constructing a new nice building for production, where we can gather all the craftsmen who are working with us and in this way contribute to better and safer working circumstances for them.
